There comes a time in the lives of butterflies when what they were must fade into the past and what they will be must be their immediate future. That change is radical, and that change is filled with tension and drama as the cocooned insects begin to break free of that which protected them – but is now only constraining them. Once the new life is breaking up the old life, there is no turning back.
Like the butterflies, we are on the verge of God doing a new thing in and through his Son – the Lord Jesus Christ. What has been must fade into the past and the future is already breaking through to bring a new reality in the lives of those Christians who bear the Saviour’s name. That change is radical, that change is filled with tension and drama as the people of God see, hear, and experience the new thing that God is orchestrating. Deep is surely calling to deep. The new reformation is all but upon us. It will come through unexpected and ordinary people. The new will come through the old. Get ready.
