Rebecca Hardie

Rebecca is a Scotland-based singer/songwriter and the mum of 3 wee boys. Having very recently finished recording her first album with the lovely Mark Pierce, (www.revelator.co.uk) she is happy, if a little nervous, to begin to share her music with others.

Growing up in Hull, East Yorkshire, Rebecca was, from a young age, involved in the worship of her then home church (Hull Community Church). The draw for Rebecca to use her talent for God has always been her driving force. The honour for Rebecca is to be used by God to draw people into His life changing presence through worship, and that is absolutely her true passion.

While studying at Edinburgh University she began singing with Origin Gospel Choir (www.originscotland.org) and had the privilege of soloing for them as well as training their choir for many years. Through Origin, Rebecca has performed in most of the major venues around Edinburgh and Glasgow bringing praise and worship to thousands of people across Scotland. A number of her songs were used on Origin’s album ‘Un|broken’ which was published in 2009, and this encouraged and inspired Rebecca to continue writing and finally produce her own album.

Having met her husband James, (who sang tenor in the previously mentioned choir), they settled in Edinburgh and now have a happy but chaotic life with their 3 wee boys Oliver, Luke and Joel.

Her album ‘Dust to Diamonds‘ contains songs which she wrote in the wake of her friend’s death in 2012. The title song, which became the name of the album, is a song of hope as Rebecca began, many years later, to see how God was to bring moments of joy and purpose from the dark and confusing pain of her friend’s death – God was taking the dust and creating diamonds from it.

“He does that in each of our lives, all the time” she says “we are but dust yet he brings diamonds from our lives, and he can take the rubbish and most painful parts of our existence, (the dust), and bring joy, purpose and blessing where we could never have imagined it, (the diamonds).”

Currently Rebecca’s days centre around looking after their little pack of boys, working as a piano and vocal teacher, and leading worship in their local church, City Gates Baptist Church.
