Jonathan Downie

Jonathan Downie is committed to helping churches in reaching the diverse, multicultural communities around them. A conference interpreter and translator by training, he graduated with a PhD in Interpreting Studies in 2016, focussing on expectations of interpreters in multilingual churches.

Jonathan has been a Christian since the age of five and spent most of his formative years in Charismatic churches. He now attends City Gates Baptist Church in Edinburgh, where he is an active member, serving on the teaching and discipleship team. He is married with three small children, who teach him more on most days than he could learn from books in years.
